Introduction¶
Comaney is a budgeting app that helps you answer two simple questions:
- Where is my money going?
- How much do I have left to spend this month?
You record your income, your bills, and your day-to-day spending, and Comaney shows you the full picture. There are charts, totals, and reminders, but nothing you have to configure before you can get started.
How Comaney thinks about money¶
Every financial month starts fresh. Comaney adds up your income, subtracts your spending, and tells you what is left. There are four types of transaction:
| Type | What it means |
|---|---|
| Expense | Money you spend: groceries, rent, a coffee. |
| Income | Money you receive: salary, a refund, a gift. |
| Savings deposit | Money you move into savings. Treated like spending because it leaves your spending budget. |
| Savings withdrawal | Money you take back from savings. Treated like income because it returns to your budget. |
A fifth type, carry-over, is created automatically if you configure Comaney to roll unused budget from one month into the next. You do not create carry-overs yourself.
Where to start¶
